**corresponding angles** Angles in matching corners.

**corresponding side** In similar shapes, corresponding sides are in the same ratio.

**hypotenuse** The longest side of a right-angled triangle, which is opposite the right angle, is called the hypotenuse.

**origin** The point where the x-axis and the y-axis meet is the point O, which is called the origin.

**perpendicular** If the angle between two lines is a right angle, the lines are said to be perpendicular.

**scale factor** The ratio of corresponding lengths in similar shapes, ie how much larger or smaller the shapes are.

**similar** Having the same shape but not necessarily the same size. The corresponding angles within the shapes are equal.

**vector** A vector describes a movement from one point to another. A vector quantity has magnitude (size) and direction.
